What's being worked on now
I am currently in two capstone courses, one working in drone journalism and the other working with social media videos:
The Missouri Drone Journalism Program lost its leader in April of 2017, and a new professor has adopted the leadership role. I am working in a team with two other people as part of an independent capstone to revamp the program. I will be making an open-source policy package for newsrooms that includes best practices, regulations, recommendations for proper maintenance and precautions for both pilots and new directors alike. By the end of the semester, I will have completed this along with becoming Part 107 certified to fly drones commercially.
As KOMU looks to build its online presence, I have enrolled in a social media video class to produce content for its Facebook page. In addition to reporting and producing videos though, I have also created graphics templates in Adobe Premiere CC to make a unified, coherent design for KOMU's videos. This is also meant to help broadcast journalists who are unfamiliar with Premiere edit more easily. By the end of the semester, I will have made three social media videos along with the templates for KOMU.
